Ahold USA, Inc. Selects Metrix 4e Application Suite

Inventory, Contracts, and Field Service Technician Management Key

Waukesha, Wis. — June 26, 2002 — Metrix, Inc. (www.metrix.com) announced today that Ahold USA, an operating company of Koninklijke Ahold n.v. (NYSE:AHO, www.ahold.com), has selected the Metrix 4 application suite to manage their field service operations. Ahold USA, Inc., a Chantilly Virginia based company, operates over 1,600 stores grouped in six retail operating companies in the U.S.

“Metrix is able to provide us with a system with a high level of functionality, including a true wireless field service solution that meets our corporate IT needs as well as the needs of our operating companies,” said Steve Blakeslee, vice president of strategic initiatives, Ahold USA, Inc. “Giant of Maryland will be the first group to implement the software, and we plan on rolling it out to the other companies in the months to come.”

Giant will utilize the Contact Center, Contracts & Warranties, and the Inventory modules of the Metrix application suite, in addition to a number of products from the Metrix Techlink® family of remote solutions.

“The Metrix solution will allow us to further drive efficiencies into our operations thereby allowing us to continue to improve the value proposition for our customers. ” said Blakeslee. “Continually striving to enhance our value to our customers allows us to achieve our aggressive growth strategy in the U.S.”

“As a truly zero client solution, the stores will be able access the Metrix application remotely through our corporate Intranet to make service requests, and the system will automatically determine, schedule and notify the appropriate technician,” said Doug Peters, vice president of eBusiness Strategies, Metrix, Inc. “Field technicians will also be able to close calls via a handheld remote device saving time previously wasted by “calling in”, and, since all of the warranty information is tracked, they will be able to bill back to our OEM’s when appropriate, thereby reducing costs there will be definite cost savings.”
